The Daily Harry Potter

The wizarding world has existed since Harry Potter debuted in 1997 and continues growing.

However, even the most ardent fans might need to know specific details concerning the Hogwarts house. Here are some facts about Hogwarts House that you probably didn’t know.

Multiple Entrances to the Standard Rooms

Whether you are a Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, you have your standard room. However, there are various approaches to entering each one.

If you remember it as Neville did, a specific password given to the Fat Lady will do for Gryffindors. The only difference is that Slytherins must murmur a password to a stone wall close to the dungeons. It’s a little more difficult for Hufflepuffs; you have to tap one of the barrels next to the school kitchens to the beat of “Helga Hufflepuff.” More challenging for Ravenclaws! An enchanted door knocker has given you a riddle that needs to be solved. After that, Slytherins and Gryffindors have it easy!

Mysterious Activities

Even Albus Dumbledore, who appears to know everything, admits that he is unaware of all the information behind the castle’s walls. But all of it is fun in and of itself at this magnificent castle. And very soon, you’ll learn other secrets for yourself.

Sky-like Ceiling of Halls

You’ll have learned this one from Hermione! The ceiling in the Great Hall, where the Hogwarts students congregate for the feasts, is magically altered to resemble the sky outside. Hogwarts: A History, one of Hermione’s favorite books, taught her about this. And it does have a beautiful appearance.

Enigmatic Hogwarts’ Enrollment

The most magical moment in a young wizard or witch’s life is when they receive their Hogwarts letters, which owls carry! But far more enthralling is selecting them in the first place.

An old book, unopened since the castle’s construction, is kept at Hogwarts in a small, sealed tower. In a silver inkpot, there is also a long, fading quill. The Book of Admittance and the Quill of Acceptance are collectively referred to as these two. No matter how young, the quill will magically rise if a witch or wizard exhibits even the tiniest hint of magic and attempt to write their name in the book.

On the other hand, the book is a little more rigid than the quill, and it frequently snaps shut if it determines that a prospective witch or wizard still needs to be ready! So Neville Longbottom had to wait a while before the book finally opened! But in the end, he succeeded.

Haunted House

There is a ghost in each of the Hogwarts houses, but other ghosts are lingering around the school, including one of the professors, Professor Binns. Professor Binns passed away one day but chose to continue his lessons because ghosts typically linger behind if they have unfinished business. Ghosts may float through solid objects and are visible to all witches and wizards. A witch or wizard will experience a chill if they attempt to pass through one.

Muggles’ Hogwarts Secrets

Hagrid frequently gloats that Hogwarts is one of the safest locations, and many enchantments guard the castle at Hogwarts. This implies that the court, which is supposed to be located “somewhere in Scotland,” is unlikely to be discovered by Muggles. If they approach it remotely, they will see a ruin with warnings to ‘Keep Out’ posted on it. What if they knew?

Hogwarts’ Unique Stories

Each portrait that hangs in Hogwarts is magically animated, with the people depicted in each work of art having distinct personalities and being constantly willing to talk. For instance, the Fat Lady, who is quite stringent with the Gryffindor Common Room passwords, is introduced to us in the first book. Portraits of former headteachers are hung in Albus Dumbledore’s office to serve as advisors. The Fat Lady, who enjoys seeing her companion Violet, is one example of a portrait that can travel and visit another painting.

Peeves Plagued Hogwarts

Peeves, a magical annoyance, has been a fixture at Hogwarts for a long time, despite numerous attempts to get rid of him. The Hogwarts staff attempted to contain Peeves in a giant bell jar in the 1800s, but to their dismay, Peeves broke free and held the school hostage for three days! After that, it was preferred just to let him be.

Even the term “poltergeist” is equivalent to “noisy ghost!” — which Peeves most certainly qualifies as.

142 Staircases at Hogwarts

You won’t be shocked to learn how big Hogwarts is. The castle has 142 stairs, and as Percy Weasley explains, they “enjoy change” as well, which only adds to the confusion! Unfortunately, Hogwarts has never heard of elevators or escalators.

There are other details about Hogwarts, including At Hogwarts, and there are few electronic devices.

Hermione claims that computers, radar, and electricity are merely Muggle substitutes for magic and that they all “go crazy” at Hogwarts in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

However, it is evident from the books and the films that the Wizarding World embraced some Muggle technologies, such as vehicles and radios. However, it should be plenty for today.

I hope you enjoy reading about Hogwarts on this exciting blog!
